BROOKE POINT GRAD ON SITCOM
Former Stafford County resident gets a leading role in a Fox network sitcom

Some years ago, Erin Cahill used to run up and down the halls of Brooke Point High School, dreaming about the day when she could be a professional actress.

She doesn't have to dream about it anymore.

Starting this spring, the 26-year-old will be playing Amber Danwood on a new Fox sitcom, "Free Ride."

"When I first found out," Cahill said, "I said, 'Wow, I got a job on a sitcom.' I just keep thinking how lucky I am, how thankful I am. The whole thing is like a miracle."

Cahill, who now lives in Los Angeles, was 4 when she landed her first part in a play. "I always wanted to be an actress," she said. "I wanted to be famous."

She says she moved to California with her family about six years ago and was able to get a part in "Power Rangers," a children's science fiction show.

Cahill played the pink ranger.

But there were hard times before that, she said.

"It's a very tough field," she said. "There were times when I waited tables, and had trouble paying my bills."

Bryan Bukowski, a publicist with Simmons & Scott Entertainment, said Cahill is becoming one of the leading "comic actresses," in Hollywood.

According to a news release, "Free Ride," airing in March, is a comedy that is partially an updated rendition of "The Graduate."

The Fox sitcom follows the tale of a university graduate who moves back home to his parents' house in the Midwest.

His parents are having marital problems, but he meets up with a former classmate, who will be played by Cahill.

Rob Roy Thomas is the creator-producer of the show.

Cahill says she is very excited to be in the show, and hopes it will be a success.

She says she still stays in touch with her school chums from Stafford and visits her father here a few times a year.

"Everybody has been so supportive of me, and my friends call and say, 'I saw you in a promotion,'" she said.
